The Law Institute of Victoria Young Lawyers Section will be coming out to MLS to present to first year JD students. 

Date: Wednesday 7 March 

Time: 1-2pm 

Location: Room 108, MLS 

They will cover the following:

• How to get involved with LIV Young Lawyers
• Tips and advice on preparing for a legal career from day one and answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.
• An overview of the LIV Seasonal Clerkship and Traineeship Guidelines.
• A summary of the key requirements for admission to practice, including an explanation of the differences between Supervised Legal Training (SLT) and Practical Legal Training (PLT).
• Information about our upcoming Networking and career support and development events and activities.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and chat with LIV staff after their presentation.

Hamer Scholarships for Intensive Language Study in Asia

The Victorian Government Hamer Scholarships Program is a language and cultural immersion program designed to build the Asia-engagement capabilities of Victorians and to help strengthen cultural awareness and partnerships between Victoria and Asia. The program is open to Victorians aged 21 or above who are Australian citizens or permanent residents. It supports recipients to undertake 1 semester of intensive language study at nominated universities or institutions in China, Indonesia, Japan and Korea. Scholarships are valued at $10,000 for language study in China or Indonesia and $15,000 for language study in Japan or Korea, Applications are now open and will close on 10 March 2018. Calling law students across Victoria! The Legal Forecast Victoria is looking for ambassadors to represent TLF at their universities and help us with our initiatives.

- Engage in and work on TLF Melbourne projects in 2018
- Engage with industry and TLF by volunteering at our biggest event in May 2018
