Preloved court wig (made of horse hair) from a retired lawyer is up for sale. It was purchased in 1966 and was only used half a dozen times.

Dear Students,

We are anticipating a rise in career consultation bookings in the coming weeks so please ensure that you double check the time and date of your appointment. If you miss it, we may not be able to offer you an alternative time slot.  Also, a friendly reminder to bring hard copies of your documents if you would like us to review CVs and cover letters.  If you have a quick question, 10 minute drop-in appointments are available every day.  For times, please refer to the weekly schedule on the middle right hand side of the page.

We are currently looking for legal interns for this year's Winter programmes in our Hong Kong office.

Programmes last for 3 weeks and interns will work in 2 different departments. The programmes include:

  • structured training
  • social events
  • group training
  • real client work (drafting, attending meetings, legal research, attending court) with support and individual attention from both a supervising senior lawyer and a trainee solicitor mentor
  • the chance to make a difference through our award winning pro bono work

They conclude with a formal interview interview for a 2017 training contract.

We are looking for candidates in the penultimate year of their legal studies with excellent academic records, good commercial and current awareness, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the willingness and drive to thrive in a dynamic, international environment. Fluency in English is most important. Cantonese and Mandarin skills are also strongly desirable.
Offers are made on a rolling basis so early application is advisable.

Parliament House Senior Tour Guide

The Department of the Legislative Assembly provides administrative and procedural support to the Legislative Assembly and its committees.  The Tours and Customer Service Unit (TCSU) provides community engagement programs, particularly tours and programs for school students.  When Parliament is sitting, the Unit provides support to the Assembly Chamber.

The primary focus of this position is to provide support to the TCSU by conducting tours at Parliament House, assisting with the regional visits program, conducting metropolitan visits to schools, taking bookings for the tours program, and sharing front-of-house duties with other tour guides. The work covers non-sitting weeks, when the community engagement program is most busy, as well as sitting days, when the focus in Chamber support.

The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator, with well developed interpersonal skills, have superior customer service skills, and be team-oriented.

Legal Assistant at Victoria Legal Aid

VLA seeks a legal assistant who will provide a wide range of legal administration support services to support the Civil Justice Program. Some of the duties include word processing, scheduling appointments, providing assistance to the Administrative Services Manager and providing accurate information to clients and other legal practitioners.

The legal assistant will maintain and update VLA’s case management system, and initiate and assist in implementing new procedures to enhance the quality of our services to clients. Assistance in court clerking and to other teams within the Civil Justice Access and Equity Program may be required.
