Junior Solicitor Roles at the Office of Public Prosecutions

The Office of Public Prosecutions has the responsibility to conduct an effective, economical and efficient prosecution service as an integral part of the criminal justice system.  The Office conducts the prosecution of all indictable crime under laws of the state of Victoria.  In doing so it must meet community expectations of fairness, impartiality and independence in the application of the criminal law.

This junior solicitor position is designed to attract solicitors who have exposure to the criminal jurisdiction or are interested in establishing and consolidating a strong criminal practice skill base through the preparation and conduct of criminal litigation, particularly at the Magistrates’ and County Court level.

To be appointed to this role you must be eligible for admission to the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer.

The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions inVictoriaon behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).  Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system.

The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 300 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

 

 

Company Research Specialist at META

Manufacturing Excellence Taskforce of Australia (META) is proposing an initiative whereby a multidisciplinary team of four university students will be placed into companies for a 1 week period. The student team will complete an X-ray of the business, covering the different steps in the manufacturing value chain based on the specific area of expertise of the students. The first placements will act as a pilot program.

If successful, it may be possible for students to complete a number of placements each.

This program is open to all study levels: PHD, Masters, and Undergraduates, as well as recent Graduates. Given that the teams will be multidisciplinary we encourage students from all faculties to express their interest.
