Stepping Into Program - Law Internships

PAID INTERNSHIPS IN LAW

Do you want to gain paid work experience in a leading organisation, build a network of contacts, and develop valuable skills and experience?

Stepping Into™ is a paid internship program designed specifically for university students with disability, who want to gain paid, hands-on work experience in a leading organisation.

This winter, Stepping Into is offering opportunities for students with disability to participate in paid legal internships. Internships will commence in June/July and run for a minimum of 152 hours.

The following organisations and Government Departments are still seeking applications from students in their final or penultimate year of Law:

The Department of Education and Training

The Department of Employment

Austrade

The Australian Financial Services Authority (AFSA)

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)

Allen & Overy travel adapter safety concern

We have received notice from Allen & Overy regarding the travel adapters that the firm handed out at the 2016 Hong Kong Law Fair. Unfortunately there is an unspecified issue with them – please see statement below.

“Recently, it has been brought to our attention that there may be safety concerns relating to the adaptor plug we distributed during the event, when the plug is not properly used in accordance with its instructions for use.

We are in contact with the supplier of the adapters to ensure compliance with relevant safety and technical standards, please note that (as with any electrical device) the instructions for use should always be followed. If in any doubt, the user should consult an electrician."

Later Lawyers Networking Lunch with Kathy Wilson – Wednesday, 18 May 2016, 12.30-2pm

Later Lawyers networking events give later lawyers and mature-age law students the opportunity to network with the profession and hear how they can maximise their opportunities and careers in the law.

Kathy is an LIV accredited specialist in wills and estates, a qualified trust and estate practitioner, and an accredited mediator. She has a background in property law, commercial litigation and succession law with more than 20 years’ experience advising in wills and succession planning; complex probate applications; asset structuring; and the resolution of disputes in wills, property, estates and guardianship matters. She is part of the LIV Succession Law Committee and co-chair of the Elder Law Committee.

Applications Closing Soon for Paid Winter Internships - for students with disability

Stepping Into is a paid internship program designed specifically for university students with disability, who want to gain paid hands-on work experience in their chosen field of study.

The Australian Network on Disability (AND), work with employers to identify and provide opportunities for university students with disability to “step into” the workplace. Stepping Into is an opportunity to gain exposure to various industries, and work alongside experienced professionals to further your skills and experience.

This winter, there are opportunities all around Australia for students with a thirst for learning, and the willingness to give it a go.
