Who will be the voice of this generation’s lawyers? They’ve been tuning into their debate skills for years. Now is the time to take the next step, get on that stage and make their voices heard! Will they get the judges to turn their seats?

10 rock star competitors will be given 24 hours to prepare their topics and five minutes to bring the high notes of humour and subtle bass of fact into perfect harmony. The winner will receive bragging rights for their firm and a spot in the National Golden Gavel Competition.
This was one of our most popular events last year, so please book single tickets (members $70.00, non-Member $90.00) or a table of 10 ($660) to witness the competition of the century!

Learn more about our charity partner – The Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation

Nationwide surveys about legal needs consistently show that people are more likely to turn to trusted health professionals, rather than lawyers. This means that hospitals are uniquely positioned to identify women experiencing family violence and to link them with professional help from legal, family violence and health experts.

Responding to this, the Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s) and Inner Melbourne Community Legal Centre initiated the Acting on the Warning Signs health-justice partnership project, a holistic model that combines health, social support and legal services to improve responses to family violence and to support other community legal services to work with hospitals to do the same (Health-Justice Project). Recent data shows that Inner Melbourne Community Legal lawyers have provided on-site legal services to patients at the Women’s in more than 474 instances and have opened 213 ongoing cases. Most of the advice concerns family law and family violence matters. It has also delivered training to more than 350 staff, including 65 doctors, to identify women at risk of family violence and to streamline referrals to specialist services.
