Reminders to students involved in the Mentor Program

Published 27 Jun 2013, 3:54 pm, by Rachel Banks

Mentor Agreement Forms: All students are required to submit a signed Mentor Agreement Form. These forms agreement not only help mentors and mentees plan ahead and set goals, it is also a University requirement for insurance purposes. These forms are now overdue so, if you have not done so already, please submit your form as a priority. Mentors will be contacted shortly for their feedback.

Mentor Work Shadowing: When possible CDS encourages students to try and set up work shadowing placements with their mentors. Whether a few hours or a day or two, shadowing is not only a unique opportunity to observe a mentor’s day to day work, but also is a great experience to add to your CV and opportunity to expand your professional network.

NB: Job shadowing is observing or following – not doing “work” that an employee would usually be paid to do.  Prior to commencing, your mentor should inform you of basic occupational health and safety requirements for their place of work e.g. location of building exit.
