Book a time on Law Online.  Students are asked to please bring hard copies of their CVs and cover letters to their appointments. This gives the consultants the best starting point to help you develop a winning application.

In addition, if you are applying to a specific opportunity it is beneficial to supply the position description for the consultant to reference during your meeting.

Job Scam Warning

CDS ask students to be wary of a job scam targeting international students.

A group are advertising jobs at a juice bar in Melbourne and asking applicants to complete interviews via video chat. The footage is then being edited and sent to relatives, claiming that the student is in financial trouble. The group are asking the relatives to send money to a fake professor's bank account.

Pass this on. Let your friends and family know. If you or someone you know has been involved in the scam, contact a Student Support staff member.

Swansong for unpaid internships?

Under the Fair Work Act the regulations concerning unpaid work are clear and a recent lawsuit in the US serves as a good reminder why.

Two former Fox Searchlight Pictures interns, Alex Footman and Eric Glatt, have successfully sued the distribution company for their unpaid work on the set of academy award winning film Black Swan.
