As you may know, Allens and Linklaters entered into an integrated alliance in May 2012. Linklaters is a UK-based Magic Circle firm and while the two firms remain independent, they work together for the benefit of clients across the world, and on initiatives such as recruitment.  

Allens and Linklaters will be hosting events throughout Australia to allow penultimate year law students to find out more about the two firms, their alliance, and their respective clerkships and graduate offerings. The events will also be a great opportunity for students to network with representatives of the two firms. 

The Melbourne events will take place at Allens' Melbourne office on Tuesday, 18 March.

The Footscray Community Legal Centre (FCLC) is a community organisation that provides free legal assistance and financial counselling for the benefit of people who live, work or study in the City of Maribyrnong. The centre relies heavily on the work of legal and non-legal volunteers.

Footscray CLC will soon be starting an Employment Law Service and are currently looking for law student volunteers to assist! Check out the job listing here for more information on how to apply.

All students are encourgaed to visit CDS (located on the Mezzanine, opposite the Student Centre) to collect and complete an LIV student membership form by Friday 28 February to avoid having to provide proof of enrolment!  (Leave your completed form in the tray and CDS will forward it on your behalf).

For those of you who are not aware, the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is the professional membership association for Victorian lawyers and those working in the legal profession. The LIV supports students throughout their studies and assists with the development of a successful legal career.  The LIV’s Young Lawyers’ Section has created an online dashboard for you to learn all there is about a career in law including helpful information about the necessary requirements in order to qualify to practise law.
