Participating in MLS Mentor Program - Important mid year tips to remember

Published 29 May 2014, 3:43 pm, by Helen Green

Students are expected to meet or have remote contact with their mentor at least 3-4 times during the year. Contact your mentor now to set up an appointment during the semester break as it is a great opportunity to meet with your mentor, shadow them at work (if appropriate) or meet their colleagues.

A timely reminder that students job shadowing are covered by the University's insurance. Shadowing is defined as "observing" or "following" - not performing work tasks an employee would normally be paid to do. This is an important distinction.

Don't forget it is important to let us know if your personal circumstances change making your participation in the program difficult, your enrolment status changes or you are having difficulty contacting your mentor.

Students with queries about any aspect of the mentor program, should contact CDS law-careers@unimelb.edu.au

This gives our consultants the best starting point to help you develop a winning application. In addition, if you are applying to a specific opportunity it is beneficial to supply the position description for the consultant to reference during your meeting.
