GradAustralia and the Law Society of New South Wales are proud to announce the launch of the 2017-18 Law Guide.

The Law Guide brings together all of the information a law student needs to make the successful transition from education to employment and flourish as a young professional. Within the guide, we highlight the variety of different career pathways available with a law degree and delve into the unique facets of each industry. By inviting legal practitioners from a range of backgrounds to share their experiences, we’ve also aimed to supply a broad selection of honest insights into what life on the job is really like. The County Court User Survey is part of the Court's commitment to Court Excellence. As recommended by the International Framework for Court Excellence, the Court conducts the survey biannually (June and November) so it can establish a sound base for comparison of change in satisfaction over time. The survey also assists in identifying and addressing issues as identified by our Court Users. 

We are looking for law students to assist with the running of the first survey of the year on Wednesday 7 June 2017. 

There are approximately 8 spaces available per shift. We will be running two shifts from 8.45am - 12pm and 12.45pm - 4pm so 8 students in the morning and 8 in the afternoon.
The survey is run on iPads and the students will be required to ask various people in the court on this day if they would like to fill out the survey on an iPad and assist them with any questions. 

The volunteers will be provided with iPads, identifying T-shirts and lunch.

The MinterEllison Talent Pathways Program is a joint initiative between University of Melbourne and MinterEllison.

The purpose of the program is to connect high achieving law students who are interested in a career in commercial law, to commercial lawyers at MinterEllisonwith relevant legal experience to guide and foster the personal professional development of the mentee.

The Mentoring Program runs from June through December 2017, during this period there will be the opportunity for mentors and mentees to meet up to 6 times.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The program is open to pre-penultimate law and first year JD students from University of Melbourne. We are looking for students who are keen to explore the opportunity of working in corporate law at the end of their studies. This is the third year the program has been run and we are looking for a diverse range of mentees.

APPLICATION

Applicants are required to complete an online application form which will be used to assess reliability for the program, and then match mentors and mentees. When completing your application be sure to include any information that you think is relevant to us finding you a good match.

Online applications take roughly 20 minutes to complete by participants, there three key questions to address as well as additional sections on extra-curricular activities. Please include your CV and academic transcript in the application.

PROGRAM FORMAT

The Talent Pathways Program runs over six-months and includes a welcome and farewell breakfast event. Participants should discuss the different types of communication they would like to use with their respective mentoring partner.

We will host a welcome breakfast in July for the successful Mentees to meet their Mentors.
