Volunteers required for the Hong Kong Law Fair - 22 March 2012

There are still volunteer positions available for the Hong Kong Law Fair! This is a great opportunity to meet with exhibiting firms or PCLL providers and assist them on the day.

If you can be available from 10.30am to 2pm to help the firms set up, check in with them during the Fair and pack down, then please email Valerie at the Careers Office at valeriew@unimelb.edu.au. Refreshments are available at the Fair.

Come and hear from four law graduates that have chosen very different careers:

Theo Alexander, Barrister

Theo graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws in 2002. He was admitted in early 2003 and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in May 2003. He practises principally in the areas of regulatory and ‘white-collar’ offences, particularly Commonwealth prosecutions under the Crimes Act/Criminal Code, Corporations Act, ITAA, Competition and Consumer Act, and State prosecutions under criminal and OHS legislation.

Cassidy Prent, Lawyer, Freehills

Cassidy graduated from The University of Melbourne with a combined Arts/Law (H1) degree in 2007. Cassidy completed articles at Freehills in 2008 and is currently working as a lawyer in Freehills’ Baking & Projects team. Cassidy is also a Team Leader of the St Kilda Homeless Persons Legal Clinic, which is run by Freehills in co-operation with PILCH to provide pro bono legal services to homeless clients.

Catherine Robinson, Lawyer, ASIC

Catherine attended La Trobe University and obtained a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (graduating in 2008). She joined the ASIC Graduate program in 2008 and rotated through 3 different areas. Upon completing the program, Catherine chose to work in the Deterrence Directorate. Her work involves some civil litigation, some criminal investigations and some administrative law matters.

Hugh Morley, Owner, La Belle Miette

Hugh Morley has a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts from The University of Melbourne, as well as a Master of Arts from Yale. After a stint working in a top-tier firm, he followed his entrepreneurial dream and opened La Belle Miette with his partner Maylynn. La Belle Miette is a patisserie specialising in macarons and currently has two locations - Hardware Lane in Melbourne and Church Street in Richmond.
