Youthlaw is a not-for-profit community legal centre that provides free legal assistance to young people experiencing disadvantage. We are looking for law students in 2nd year or above who are passionate about social justice and can commit to volunteering for the next 12 months.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about common legal issues affecting young people;
  • Gain experience assisting lawyers with casework and administrative tasks;
  • Contribute to Youthlaw’s capacity to provide free legal assistance to young people; and
  • Receive ongoing training and supervision to develop your practical legal skills.

Youthlaw is co-located with Frontyard Youth Services in the Melbourne CBD, and will recruit volunteers with a demonstrated interest in legal issues affecting young people experiencing disadvantage (eg. homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness, family violence, financial hardship, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds).

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer at Youthlaw, refer to the Law Online Job listing - https://careersonline.unimelb.edu.au/workgroups/law-school-careers-office/jobs/694158

Applications close on Monday 3 March 2014.
