The Federal Circuit Court invites Expressions of Interest for Casual Court Officer / Chambers Assistant Opportunity
The Federal Circuit Court of Australia invites expressions of interest in the role of casual court officer/administrative assistant available on 12 month, non-ongoing contracts commencing October 2016.
Court officers will be trained to work closely with judges and chambers staff on a diverse range of duties including:
- Performing the support role in Court (Court Officer role).
- Assisting in the preparation of orders, correspondence and/or judgments.
- Updating the Court’s case management system.
- Assisting in the day-to-day running of chambers and the office, including providing information in response to enquiries.
- Other duties as required.
The Court invites applications from law students who will shortly complete their law studies and also alumni. Thesis students are encouraged to apply.
Strong communication (oral and written), demonstrated organisational skills, demonstrated sound keyboard skills, the ability to use relevant software applications including
Microsoft Office applications, Lotus Notes and internet together with a capacity to work to a high standard on a range of tasks are essential skills in the role. Appropriate interpersonal skills for a court environment are also required.
The role requires a degree of flexibility with respect to working arrangements. The work offered is intermittent and irregular subject to the demands of the Court.
