Learning to Write Persuasively: Fine-tune your Memos, Submissions, and Research Essays
On Friday, December 9, from 11 AM – 12 PM in Room 608, the Legal Academic Skills Centre is hosting a workshop with Lurene Contento (visiting from the USA) on Writing Persuasively. There is no charge for this workshop, but please REGISTER.
Professor Contento teaches skills-based courses at The John Marshall Law School, a school that is ranked No. 5 for Legal Writing and is known for its “practice ready” focus. Professor Contento also directs the school’s Writing Resource Center. In that role, she has counseled over 2000 students on improving their legal writing skills – including their skills of persuasion. Professor Contento has also taught legal skills abroad, including in China, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, and Ireland. She believes strongly in interactive and experiential education and bases all her teaching around these principles. Professor Contento has also lectured widely, both in the U.S. and abroad, on topics related to teaching legal skills.
Professor Contento is pleased to offer this short workshop on how to write more persuasively. The workshop is planned to be interactive, informative – and also fun.
