Australia China Youth Dialogue - Applications open
The Australia-China Youth Association (ACYA), in partnership with The China University Media Union (CUMU) and the All-China Youth Federation’s ‘Dialogue with the World’ series, presents the 2011 Australia-China Youth Dialogue (ACYD) guided by this year’s theme, ‘China in Australia’.
From October 10-14 2011, the dialogue will bring 30 together high calibre youth and potential future leaders from both nations to discuss key issues that characterise aspects of the Australia-China relationship.
This year’s ACYD delegates will explore:
- The role of the Chinese diaspora in Australia;
- Indigenous Australian relations;
- The Australia-China strategic resources trade dynamic;
- Cultural transfer and creative industries between Australia and China;
- China and social media; and
- The role of China internationally.
Each of the sessions will be led by a panel of three experts in their respective fields. Some of our featured experts include:
- Hon. Dr. Craig Emerson, Australian Minister for Trade;
- Dr Martin Parkinson PSM, Secretary to the Treasury;
- Mr Dennis Richardson AO, Secretary to the Department of Foreign Affairs;
- Professor Hugh White; Director of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, ANU;
- Hon. Justice Michael Kirby AC; former Judge of the High Court of Australia;
- Professor John Fitzgerald; Director of the Ford Foundation, Beijing;
- Hon. Bill O’Chee; first-ever Australian-Chinese federal politician
- Mr Danny Gilbert; Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers; and
- Mr Rowan Callick, Asia Pacific Editor, The Australian.
The Dialogue will be held in Canberra from October 10-12 at the Australian National University (ANU), and in Sydney from October 13-14 at the Lowy Institute for International Policy.
The ACYD Team is seeking applications from Australian and Chinese nationals, who at the time of application are aged between 18-30 years of age and share a demonstrable interest in regional affairs and leadership in their demonstrated fields.
