Project title: Joint object perception

Investigators: Dr. Simon Laham (Principal investigator) & Shaheed Azaad

Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne.

Project description:

You are invited to participate in a study that will examine how perceive objects when working with a social partner.

Successfully navigating the environment requires us to know the actions permitted to us by objects. Much of our interaction with the environment however occurs in the presence of, or with the assistance of social partners. Research indicates that we may take into account others’ perceptions of objects when working in a dyad (Richardson, Marsh, & Baron, 2007). The current study investigates how working with a social partner might influence the way in which we perceive household objects.

In this study you will be asked to perform a number of computer tasks. Some of these tasks you’ll perform alone and others you’ll perform with a partner. The tasks will require you to make responses to various stimuli presented on the computer screen. Specific instructions will be given during each task.

The time commitment for this study is one hour.

You will be paid $10 for your participation in this study.
