At Merck, we believe that bringing generations together offers the potential to uncover the next great innovation in medical science.
In its sixth year, the Innovation Cup offers the opportunity for 30 selected post-graduate students in life sciences, business administration and engineering programs to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from experienced Merck professionals, develop entrepreneurial skills and work with peers in teams to advance a novel idea into a convincing business plan during a one week summer camp to be held near Frankfurt, Germany (July 3 – 8, 2016).
What’s in it for me?
If you are a post-graduate student with an interest in the pharmaceutical industry, the Merck Innovation Cup is your chance to gain in-depth knowledge about pharmaceutical research and development, to network with top students from around the world and build a business case together with experienced professionals.
Who can apply:
Merck invites advanced students in life sciences, business administration and engineering programs from all over the world to apply for participation in the Merck Innovation Cup.
30 students will be selected:
• Sciences: Post-graduate students in the life sciences field on their way toward a PhD in biology, medicine, biotech, bioinformatics, biochemistry, pharmacy, engineering or related fields
• Business: Advanced MBA students or recent MBA graduates with an interest in the pharmaceutical business and a life science background
• Also postdocs can apply
How it works:
During a one week summer camp, 30 selected graduate students will attend in-depth presentations about the pharmaceutical industry given by Merck management and external experts. The participants will be divided into teams, work together to develop a business plan and present it to a grand jury, who will award the best plan with the Merck Innovation Cup and a cash prize of EUR 20,000 plus EUR 5,000 for the runner-up.
