We require female participants aged 18 years and over, who currently own an iPhone, for a one week study on emotions, behaviour, and the prevalence of objectifying events.
In this project, you will come to the lab for an induction session, in which you will complete a short questionnaire. During this session you will also download two apps for your phones. These apps will then operate once you leave the lab.
Over the next seven days, the first app (SEMA) will be programmed to beep 10 times per day (during your waking hours e.g., 10am-10pm) and on each beep will ask you to complete a short 1 minute survey about your experiences and emotions. During this time, you will engage in your usual daily activities, and simply complete the survey when the app alerts you to.
The second app (iEAR) will only run for the first 3 days of the study. This app will record short 50 second snippets of your daily interactions, approximately 40 times per day (during waking hours).
At the end of the week, you will return to the lab for a final session. In this session you will have the chance to listen to and send your audio files to the experimenter. You will also be fully debriefed about the study, and compensated for your participation.
Over the course of the week, the total time commitment for this study is 2 hours 45 minutes.
