An internship is offered in the Advancement Office (Digital Communications team) at the University of Melbourne from March to December 2015. This internship is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding student who is interested in online communications with particular emphasis on social media, within the context of Advancement and higher education. The internship offers the right candidate an enviable professional development opportunity that will enhance writing and communications planning skills, as well as PR, online relationship management and team skills.

The student intern will work under the supervision of the Digital Communications Manager, contributing to tasks including community management, communications analysis and reporting and strategic planning.

The successful applicant will obtain an understanding of, experience and training in:
Creating original content for use online
Online Community management
Measuring and reporting on social media activity
Integrated communications campaigns and the role of social media
Public relations
The Advancement Office and its role within the University of Melbourne
Copyright and legal matters relating to social media
Safe management of a highly visible brand

The successful applicant will have the chance to work independently as well as contribute to strategic initiatives, and as such a high degree of maturity and a strong professional interest in social media is required. We expect that this position will suit graduate students in Marketing, Journalism or Communications; however undergraduate students who possess highly relevant skills are also encouraged to apply.
