TIPS FOR BOOKING EVENTS ON CAREERS ONLINE
We have had many emails from students disappointed at not being able to attend events because they are booked out. There seems to be some confusion about "Waiting Lists" so please see below on how the automated system works in relation to event bookings.
What happens if a student is on a waiting list for an event?
Whenever a “booked-in” student decides to “book-out” of the event, an email is sent to all the students on the waiting list notifying them that a place or places have become available. At that point, that remaining spot is available on a “first come, first serve” basis. If there are 3 students on the waiting list, all 3 students will receive a notification email about an open spot regardless of their waiting list order. The first student to log into that event on Careers Online and book will secure that newly available spot.
PLEASE NOTE:
• If you have not received an email confirming you are booked into an event - you are NOT booked in. You can also check under your DASHBOARD tab on your homepage to see which events you are booked into and which you are on a waiting list for.
• If you receive an email advising NEW PLACES have become available at an event, you need to act quickly as another student may take that place.
• Your attempt to access a newly available place at an event may not be successful. This is because the places will be allocated to the first student(s) to click the booking button.
• Event bookings are system-automated so please do not contact the system administrator or email careers-online as we will be unable to book you in.
• The above should demonstrate why it is essential if you are unable to attend an event to please book out of it as soon as you can to allow another student to attend.
* Often when there are many students on a waiting list, we will try to repeat an event where possible - so check Careers Online for a repeat session.
