Monash University- Dietary Fats and Metabolism Research Participants Reimbursement of $100 for time and travel costs
Healthy overweight males aged 18-40 years are required to participate in a study exploring how the body processes different types of dietary fats. It will involve consuming breakfast meals, having some blood samples taken, and also having your fat, muscle mass and energy requirements measured.
Healthy overweight males aged 18-40 years are required to participate in a study exploring how the body processes different types of dietary fats.
The aim of this study is to see how the body processes different types of fats that are eaten. If a meal based on one type of fat is found to be associated with greater energy and fat usage by the body, this would be very attractive as a weight control strategy.
The study will involve coming into the Monash University Nutrition and Dietetics Department in Notting Hill on three separate days. Each day will require you to consume a breakfast meal, provide some blood samples and have your energy expenditure measured. You will also be required to have some physical measurements taken, including height, weight and blood pressure, as well as a DEXA scan to accurately measure your fat and muscle mass.
Information will be provided to you about your body composition as well as how much energy you need each day.
All participants will be reimbursed with $100 towards time and travel costs.
This study has been approved by Monash University’s Ethics Committee (Project Code CF13/3165-2013001679)
