Invitation to participate in the Families And Childhood Transitions Study (FACTS)!

The University of Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences and The Royal Children’s Hospital are inviting families to take part in an exciting new research study called FACTS (The Families And Childhood Transitions Study).

We are looking for 8 year old children and their mothers to participate.

We hope to learn about how the environments children grow up in (such as family relationships) influence their brain development. This information will help us develop programs that promote the best possible outcomes for children, and hopefully make life easier for parents.

We hope that 160 eight year old children and their mothers will take part in FACTS. This study goes for two years, and we’d need you to visit us twice. We would like you and your family to take part now, when your child is 8 years old, for two sessions, and again when your child is 10 years old, for one session. Each session takes about 2 hours.

If you are interested in participating or want to learn more about the study, please contact us on any of the means listed below and we will be happy to speak to you! We will explain the study in more detail, send you some additional information, and make sure you understand what is involved before you decide whether or not you want to take part. We will also make sure you and your family are eligible for the study. If you and your family wish to take part, you will be compensated for time and travel costs.
