Smoking Test

Respondents will be contacted by telephone to arrange 5 visits over a 2 week period. These visits can be any 5 consecutive days – these will be arranged by interviewer/respondent.

You will also need to be available for the additional tests – the number of tests vary depending on the smokers groups you fall into. There is a minimum of 2 tests and maximum of 4 tests.

• For each Test, we will ask you to test 4 cigarette products on consecutive days and ask your opinions about each test product.
• We will need commitment for 5 consecutive days for each test, which will be arranged with you by telephone by AFS (pls note: you will be contacted via a Melbourne number)
• On each of these 5 days (24 hours apart), field staff will visit at a location that is convenient to you and pre-arranged with you.
• On the 1st test day, staff will deliver the 1st pack of test cigarettes to you and ask some additional questions. This visit will be 15 – 20 minutes
• You will be asked to try a total of 4 different packs of test cigarettes over 4 days, 1 test product per day.
• Staff will visit on each of these 4 consecutive days to collect the left-over test products and place a new test product to you. These consecutive visits will be 10 – 15 minutes.
• To avoid any bias in the evaluation of test products, you will be asked not to smoke your regular cigarettes during the test days.
• You are also asked to smoke the test cigarettes yourself and not to give them to others e.g. friends, relatives and family etc. Everything regarding the test confidential.
• INCENTIVES: AU$80 Coles/Myer gift voucher at the end of each Test. (by this we mean, after all 4 products have been tested, and the 5 day survey completed).

LOCATIONS:
The interviewer can go to any suitable place for the interview (work, home, friend’s house etc.) anywhere that you will be at the interview time as long as this is arranged when the appointments are made at the beginning of the tests. The goal is to be as flexible and as accommodating as possible to ensure you can complete your full test.
