The Instrumental Music Program Co-ordinators of the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development – North Eastern Victoria Region (NEVR) are responsible for overseeing the provision of instrumental music tuition in 73 state secondary schools from Hawthorn to Healesville, down to Clayton and up to Wangaratta and Wodonga, encompassing in excess of 54,000 secondary students and their families. Our catchment area also includes nearly 300 primary schools, 77,000 primary students and their communities.

We are staging our Youth Concert Wednesday May 21, 2014. The Concert is entitled ‘Back In The Groove’ and will be held at the prestigious Arts Centre, Hamer Hall. It is a spectacular evening showcasing the talents of approximately 800 primary and secondary music students in the NEVR.
As this is a grand scale production we are in need of many staff volunteers to make it a success. If you are a third or fourth year Music/Drama student who might like to get involved and assist us in some of the roles, we would be looking for students interested in assisting with tutoring (all instruments/choir/drama) on rehearsal days, assistance with supervision on rehearsal days and at the concert, and backstage work (including sound & lighting). The dates for the full production are as follows and students could elect to be involved for all or part of the event. Please note that all positions will be staffed on a volunteer basis and all volunteers will need to present current Working With Children Check card.

• Rehearsal 1: Thursday May 15 (day only)
• Rehearsal 2: Monday May 19 (day only)
• Concert and Sound-check: Wednesday May 21 (all day and evening)
• Senior Ensembles and Drama: Rehearsals to be advised.
This opportunity would be particularly beneficial for students wishing to pursue a career in music/arts education and being involved in an event such as this is invaluable experience when seeking future employment.

If you feel that you would like to be involved or would like further information please email your details and experience to nevr.music.m@edumail.vic.gov.au or phone Val, Carl or Cheryl at NEVR Music on 9873 8139.
