Job Ready – how international students graduates can gain a career-start position in Australia International student graduates who seek a career start and possible Permanent Residency in Australia find it very difficult to gain professional positions in their chosen discipline at the present time.

This skills development workshop, with an optional intensive mentoring and network development program, was piloted in South Australia in 2012 and had an over 80% success rate in placing international graduates in jobs in Australia. Supported by the University of Melbourne this program is now offered to its students and graduates. It is designed to fit graduating students to the business culture in Australia.

Over 80% of jobs in the private sector are not advertised. This workshop will develop the skills needed to gain career start positions and the mentoring program will embed students in local business networks to gain access to these jobs.

It covers:

The changes necessary to your resume to command the attention of potential employers The construction of unique letters of application which are critical for applicants to make the shortlist Knowledge of the questions likely to be asked in job interviews and how best to answer them In depth understanding of and access to the Australian business and work culture Apart from an university qualification, the essential skill set employers demand of all graduates The opportunity to be embedded within business leaders’ networks and mentored to build your own network, get job referrals and most importantly, gain a career start.
