The Centre of Research Excellence in Child Language (CRE-CL) at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute invites applications for PhD scholarships across a range of cutting edge program areas. This CRE-CL links a number of longitudinal Australian and international studies with the aim of advancing the science of how language develops, what goes wrong and when and how to intervene. It is also unique in its parallel cohorts of children with normal hearing and hearing impairment. It brings together some of the best research, and leading researchers in the world incorporating the following organisations - MCRI, Deakin University and the Parenting Research Centre (all Melbourne based) - and international collaborators at the University of Newcastle (UK), and University of Iowa (USA).
The CRE-CL provides an internationally-unprecedented capacity for language research - in both hearing and deaf children - combining the latest theoretical and measurement approaches in molecular genetics, neuro-imaging, epidemiology, biostatistics and health economics.
Potential research areas include:
- Public health research
- Neuro-imaging research
- Health economics research
- Parenting and language development research
