UN Youth Australia is looking to fill the roles of Convenor and Deputy Convenors for the Youth Coalition Project 2022 and Convenor and Deputy Convenors for the Inquiry into Latin America 2022.
These positions are an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a leadership position in Australia's largest youth-run non-profit. These roles are remote, so can be performed from anywhere in Australia. Please see below for the relevant vacancies.
Youth Coalition Project 2022 Convenor and Deputy Convenors
The Youth Coalition Project (YCP) is a five day event aiming to engage 20 young people from Australia with young people from Africa. The online activity will focus on collaborating with three foreign youth groups within Africa. The program will be inspired by the United Nations Voice Africa’s Future (VAF), a youth initiative of African Monitor running in 10 African countries focussing on the implementation of SDGs.
Inquiry into Latin America 2022 Convenor and Deputy Convenors
The Inquiry into Latin America (ILA) is a four-six day event aiming to engage 30 young people on the theme of ‘Revolutions’ in South America. The online activity will focus on the history of revolutionary movements, their successes and their failures.
Applying for the Role

What is the role?
The Convenor and Deputy Convenors will be expected to design the educational vision and logistics of the tour, communications, and assist in the delegate application process. 30 delegates will be selected to facilitate the program, along with one Convenor and three Deputy Convenors.
Together, the team must plan and run the whole tour, including:
- Creating the itinerary,
- Designing the Risk Management Plan,
- Structuring the Educational Vision,
- Managing tour finances,
- Recruiting delegates,
- Mitigating Zoom fatigue,
- Ensuring accessibility needs are prioritised,
- Mentoring and acting as welfare officers for the participants during the tour.
There is no cost to the facilitators.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate:
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to work well in a team,
- Logistical, organisational and problem solving skills,
- Ability to work to deadlines, and
- Ability to work with the National Executive to maximise the success of the tour and the health and wellbeing of participants.
Applicants must:
- Be aged between 18 years and 25 years by February 2022,
- Complete the UN Youth facilitator accreditation by January 2023 and
- (Desirable) Have current Senior First Aid, CPR qualifications and Youth Mental Health First Aid at the time of the tour in July 2023
