What is the Students@Work Internship Program?

The S@W Internship Program was established in January 2017 and it aims to provide work and skill development opportunities to current University of Melbourne students. Last year, the Internship Program placed 116 interns across various teams across the University. In 2022, the program will place approximately 70 students in various roles across Chancellery, the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio and Academic Divisions.

Employment contracts will be 3, 6 or 9 months in duration with a commitment of 15-20 working hours per week. All internships are paid at UOM 4.1 level.

What experience will I gain?

Internship positions are grouped into streams based on the operational area and role responsibilities. You can select one of the following internship streams (no more than one stream per applicant). As per the majority of professional roles, all internships will contain an element of business as usual administrative tasks. Full support will be provided by the Students@Work team throughout the placement to ensure you are getting the most from your internship.

Streams: Marketing, Data Analysis and Reporting, HR, IT/Web Support, Multimedia (Graphic Design, Video and Media), Policy Support, Research Management Support, Service Improvement/Project Administration, Student/Academic Support, Legal & Risk.

As a Students@Work intern, you will have an opportunity to develop key employability skills and gain invaluable experience working across a variety of operational areas, while allowing the University to augment its workforce through leveraging the capability, specific skills and insights of students.
