Diversity Scholarship Program 2022
Applications are now open for The Department of Treasury and Finance Diversity Scholarship 2022, which supports a talented member of the community from a diverse background to undertake tertiary study in 2022.
This exciting scholarship incorporates both financial and non-financial support and includes an opportunity to participate in a work placement in the Department. The recipient will receive a study allowance of up to $22,500 to support full-time or part-time tertiary study plus additional support of up to $7,500, along with access to VPS networks, events and employment programs.

Why is the Department of Treasury and Finance offering this scholarship?
The Department of Treasury and Finance believes organisations and communities grow stronger by becoming more diverse.
The Diversity Scholarship is one of several initiatives – also including our Diversity and Inclusion Framework and All Abilities Plan – through which we demonstrate our commitment to attracting, retaining and advancing diverse individuals and promoting inclusion at all levels of our organisation.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
The scholarship is open to all individuals from diverse backgrounds who are currently completing undergraduate studies or are due to commence undergraduate tertiary studies in the following calendar year. This includes but is not limited to someone who:
- identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
- has a disability or who cares for a person with a disability;
- is from a disadvantaged or low socio-economic background;
- is from a multicultural or refugee background; or
- identifies as LGBTIQ.
The scholarship is open to students studying during 2022 in one of the following fields:
- Economics;
- Engineering;
- Science;
- Technology;
- Mathematics (Data Analytics and Statistics);
- Business;
- Finance;
- Accounting; or
- Public Policy or Political Studies.

The scholarship recipient will have access to a range support that will be tailored to individual needs.
Receive a study allowance of up to $22,500 to support full-time or part-time tertiary study plus additional support of up to $7,500.
Complete a work experience placement at the Department of Treasury and Finance.
Access to Victorian Public Service (VPS) employment programs and Departmental and VPS-wide events.
Receive significant support towards completing your course of study and gain experiences that will advance your career.
How to apply?
Carefully read the Diversity Scholarship 2022 Guidelines before submitting your application. One scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit, taking into account:
- the aspirations of applicants
- the expected benefits of the Scholarship to applicants; and
- the capacity of the applicant to successfully complete the course of study.
- Diversity Scholarship applicants may be asked to attend an interview to expand on their application.
