The FM Global 2018 Student Scholarship grants the recipient the opportunity to learn more about property loss prevention in a hands-on environment at the world's only property loss-prevention training centre of its kind and FM Global's state-of-the-art Research Campus.

The SimZone is a 1,115-square meter 21st century classroom located in Norwood, Mass., USA. It creates hands-on opportunities for FM Global engineers to apply their critical thinking skills in real-world simulations. Combined with instructor-led training by some of the most talented and respected engineers in the world, this unique learning environment provides students with the knowledge and critical-thinking skills to identify and manage risk by experiencing real-world sce-narios, allowing FM Global engineers to apply their knowledge and training in a controlled envi-ronment.

One of the most innovative research and testing centres in the world, the Research Campus is the largest investment in loss prevention FM Global has ever made. Here, scientists and loss prevention engineers work in four main laboratories: Fire Technology, Natural Hazards, Electrical Hazards and Hydraulics. Each is equipped with the most advance technology and was designed with property owners, product manufacturers and continuously evolving industry trends in mind. Other prominent campus features include a remote testing area, where state-of-the-art explosion hazard research is conducted, and an explosion bunker specially designed to help visitors understand the damaging effects of a combustible dust explosion.
The Scholarship Details:
The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to tour FM Global’s Research Campus. In addition, they will be given a customized tour through our one-of-a-kind training facility, The SimZone.
This scholarship includes return economy airfares from Melbourne to Boston, accommodation and overseas travel expenses.
The dates for the scholarship are December 1, 2018 — December 8, 2018 (inclusive of travel time).

Submissions should meet the following requirements:
1. Be enrolled full time at Melbourne University in a Master of Engineering discipline.
2. Be an Australian permanent resident or citizen at the time of application.
3. Hold a valid passport.
4. If Australian resident, hold a permanent resident visa with a valid travel authority.
5. Be eligible for entry into the USA; either hold a USA visitor visa or be qualified to apply through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
6. Be available to travel from Saturday December 1, 2018 to Saturday December 8, 2018, inclusive.
7. The applicants must consent to their details and experience being used for marketing purposes directly related to the scholarship.
