August 2017 is ideas month at the University of Melbourne!
This year's theme,Towards Greater Inclusion, provides all students with the opportunity to make a real difference at unimelb.
There are five great challenges to put forward ideas towards and some fantastic prizes to reward creativity and innovativeness!
The open submission phase closes Friday 1 September at 11:59 pm. You can submit your idea here.
Fifteen ideas will then be invited through to the development phase, with five idea finalists being chosen to present to an expert panel at The Pitch Event.

1 Idea = 100 points
1 comment = 25 points
1 vote = 5 points
Prizes & Rewards
The Winning Idea
- A six-month mentoring experience, tailored to your career aspirations, including formal monthly meetings to track your progress towards your goals.
- $5,000 towards your personal or professional development*.
- The University of Melbourne will endeavor to take your project to the next level. Where possible, you will be invited to collaborate with project teams within the University in an advisory role.
Runner up Idea
- A six-month mentoring experience, tailored to your career aspirations, including formal monthly meetings to track your progress towards your goals.
- $2,500 towards your personal or professional development*.
- The University of Melbourne will endeavor to take your project to the next level. Where possible, you will be invited to collaborate with project teams within the University in an advisory role.
Other Finalists
- $1,000 towards your personal or professional development*.
*In the event that the ideas are developed and pitched by a team of students, the prize money will be divided equally between team members. The prize money should be viewed as funding. It must be put towards a specific professional or personal development goal. For example, you could apply to put this money towards a conference or workshop that is relevant to your idea or your career aspirations.

- UoM Spirit Wear Wardrobe valued at $150.
500 Point Raffle
For every 500 points an ideator has on their profile they receive one entry into the Prize Draw.
- Major prize: six-month travel with Myki Money
- Minor prizes: 5 x 1853 T-Shirt, 5 x 1853 Cap, 5 x Keep Cups, 5 x UoM Water Bottles
250 Point Trade In*
For every 250 points (up to a maximum of 1500) an ideator has on their profile they can cash in for either:
- 1 x coffee/hot drink voucher redeemable at House of Cards, or
- 1 x limited edition UoM fidget spinner
