Do you want to explore what is it like working in the United Nations? And, more important, how to get a job in one of the greatest international organisations worldwide?

Have you already established a career plan to get into the world of international affairs and diplomacy? As a young professional, you probably know how challenging it is to get employed in international organisation nowadays given the competition and the limited opportunities for recent graduates.

How to help young professionals get hired for the job they are dreaming about? We always aim for the results, not for the process and this allows us to reach greater highs. Our career program is held in top universities around the world, which confirms our credibility and reputation on an international area. Moreover, 29% of young professionals got employed in the United Nations system within 4 months after graduation.

The International Relations Career Challenge (IRCC) is a 5-days training program for young professionals willing to build a career in the United Nations and other international organisations. This year it will be held in Johns Hopkins University at Washington D.C., USA on November 6-10, 2017.

The IRCC is a highly practical program and provides diverse benefits for your career development:

DECISION-MAKING EXPERIENCE OF PROFESSIONAL ROLES

The program includes assignments to practice three major professional roles in which you can be involved in while working in international organisations - Research and Policy Recommendations, Project Management and Campaign and Outreach. The assignments are simulations of real projects in international organisations and are structured to provide you hands-on experience across different roles at the decision-making level. You will be able to engage in responsibilities associated with each of these roles and understand which one is the most suitable for you, as well as to develop skills necessary for each role. Your work and findings are evaluated by high-level speakers with real professional experience who will provide constructive feedback for your further consideration.

APPLICATION & INTERVIEW

The program includes workshops to help you prepare for job recruitment stages. Students will receive detailed guidelines on how to present the profile in the best possible way and get noticed by the hiring department at the time of the application. Another exercise is dedicated to the competency-based interviews format, which is often used by international organisations. You will learn a specific framework to answer the competency based questions making you fully prepared to answer even the most challenging questions at the real interview.

INTERCULTURAL ENVIRONMENT

At the program we target to have a very diverse group of students with diverse backgrounds and coming from different countries around the world. For the IRCC 2017 London program at the King's College London we had participants with 18 different nationalities, and for the IRCC 2016 New York program at the Columbia University participants of 16 nationalities attended the event. This year we plan to have even more diversity to create international and intercultural working environment similar to the one in international organisations.

SPEAKERS

The program sessions are attended by high-level professionals with a vast practical experience in international organisations and in the United Nations system in particular. The speakers will share insights with you on the career opportunities in international affairs area, give advice and recommendations for your career pass. The program also offers excellent networking opportunities as you will be able to make a personal contact and build connections with experienced professionals.

These benefits together make the IRCC program a unique opportunity for young people willing to develop a career in international affairs area.
