MEFL walks the talk! Our annual environmental audit and report are a vital part of our Annual Report (due for release in October). The audit is part of our commitment to be a leader in sustainable work practices.
We require an enthusiastic volunteer or student to conduct this audit, analyse and communicate the findings and create a summary for the Annual Report.
This project is expected to continue for 4-6 weeks at 2-4 days per fortnight, however this is flexible.
The project is suitable for a student placement. Student placements are designed to provide an opportunity for a tertiary student to gain work experience in a sustainable, dynamic and independent community
organisation.
Key Activities
Conduct a full environmental audit of the MEFL office at 200 Sydney Rd Brunswick.
The audit will include measurements of:
- Energy usage by computers and printers, lighting and appliances
- Impacts of staff commuting and travel
- Office waste
Analyse data collected from the audit and produce a report
Create an article for the MEFL Annual Report summarising the audit findings
Applicant Requirements
Applicant ideally will have:
A strong understanding of sustainability theory and current issues
The ability to conduct an environmental audit within an office space
Ability to analyse and interpret the data collected into a report
Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills
Project Conditions
This is an unpaid volunteer/student opportunity. Students are provided an allowance of $20 per working day toward meals and/or transport. It is envisioned that the volunteer will commit to 2-4 days per
fortnight, however time fraction and hours are negotiable.
The project will begin around 14 August and continue until the end of September. Students undertaking this project as a course placement should confirm academic credit for placements with their course
coordinator before applying. The student will report to MEFL’s Head of Engagement Rachel Maddocks during the project.

Moreland Energy Foundation (MEFL) is an independent not-for-profit organisation established by the Moreland City Council in 2000 to work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the municipality and
beyond. MEFL works closely with the Moreland community offering a range of services and programs to ensure a sustainable future. MEFL’s Office is located at Level 1, 200 Sydney Road Brunswick.
